Aldocure Tablet 250mg contains Methyldopa, a centrally-acting antihypertensive medication used to treat high blood pressure. This prescription medication works through the central nervous system to help control blood pressure effectively and safely, particularly beneficial for hypertension during pregnancy.

How It Works
Methyldopa in Aldocure Tablet works by stimulating alpha-2 receptors in the brain, leading to decreased sympathetic nervous system activity. This results in reduced blood pressure through decreased heart rate and relaxation of blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily.
Duration of Action
The antihypertensive effect typically begins within 4-6 hours after taking Aldocure. Peak effect occurs at 12-24 hours. With regular dosing, stable blood pressure control is usually achieved within 48-72 hours.
Dosage
Initial dose: 250mg two to three times daily Maintenance dose: 500mg to 2000mg daily, divided into 2-4 doses Maximum daily dose: 3000mg Adjust dosage based on blood pressure response and doctor’s recommendation.
Side Effects
Most side effects are mild and temporary, including drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, and weakness. Some patients may experience fluid retention, dizziness, or mild gastrointestinal disturbances. Regular monitoring of liver function is recommended.
Warning
Discontinue and seek immediate medical attention if signs of liver problems occur (yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine, severe fatigue). Regular blood pressure and liver function monitoring required. Don’t stop taking suddenly without medical advice.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Aldocure Tablet is considered safe during pregnancy and is often the preferred choice for treating hypertension in pregnant women. Safe during breastfeeding, though monitoring of the infant for drowsiness is recommended.
