How It Works
Risperidone acts as an antagonist at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. This mechanism helps stabilize dopamine and serotonin systems, reducing psychotic symptoms, mood disturbances, and behavioral issues associated with various mental health conditions.

The typical starting dose for adults with schizophrenia is 2 mg per day, which may be increased gradually based on response and tolerability. Dosage varies for different conditions and age groups. Always follow your healthcare provider’s specific dosing instructions.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, weight gain, and increased appetite. Less common effects can include extrapyramidal symptoms, elevated prolactin levels, and changes in blood sugar or cholesterol levels. Rare but serious side effects may include neuroleptic malignant syndrome or tardive dyskinesia. Consult your healthcare provider if you experience severe or persistent side effects.

Altadon-2 may increase the risk of death in elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis. It’s not approved for use in these patients. Use caution in patients with cardiovascular disease or seizure disorders. This medication may impair judgment or motor skills.

Altadon-2 may interact with drugs that affect CYP2D6 enzymes, including certain antidepressants and antifungals. It may also interact with drugs that affect blood pressure or heart rhythm. Always inform your healthcare provider about all medications and supplements you’re taking.
