Gynocare Vaginal Ovules are state-of-the-art soft capsules containing a synergistic blend of potent antimicrobial agents: Neomycin Sulfate (50.2mg, equivalent to 35,000 I.U.), Polymyxin B Sulfate (35,000 I.U.), and Nystatin (100,000 I.U.). This prescription-only intravaginal medication offers a comprehensive approach to treating and preventing a wide spectrum of vaginal infections.

Uses

Gynocare Vaginal Ovules are used to treat:

  • Acute and recurrent bacterial vaginosis
  • Stubborn vaginal candidiasis (yeast infections)
  • Complex mixed vaginal infections
  • Prevention of post-operative vaginal infections in gynecological procedures
  • Prophylaxis in immunocompromised patients prone to vaginal infections

Benefits

  • Tri-action antimicrobial formula targeting bacteria and fungi simultaneously
  • Enhanced efficacy against drug-resistant strains
  • Rapid symptom relief due to high local concentration of active ingredients
  • Minimized risk of systemic side effects due to targeted local application
  • Convenient once or twice daily dosing for improved patient compliance
  • Soft ovule form ensures even distribution and prolonged contact with vaginal mucosa
  • May reduce the need for systemic antibiotics in certain cases

How It Works

Neomycin and Polymyxin B disrupt bacterial cell membranes, inhibiting protein synthesis and causing bacterial death. Nystatin binds to ergosterol in fungal cell membranes, creating pores that lead to fungal cell lysis. This multi-modal action ensures comprehensive coverage against a wide range of pathogens.

Dosage

Typical regimen: Insert one ovule deep into the vagina once or twice daily, preferably at bedtime. Treatment duration usually ranges from 7-14 days, adjustable based on clinical response and healthcare provider’s assessment. For prophylaxis, a modified regimen may be prescribed.

Side Effects

While Gynocare is generally well-tolerated, possible side effects include:

  • Transient local irritation or burning sensation
  • Mild vaginal discharge
  • Rarely, allergic reactions Monitor for signs of secondary infections. If severe irritation or systemic symptoms occur, discontinue use and seek immediate medical attention.

Warning

For intravaginal use only. Gynocare Is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any components. Use during pregnancy and lactation only if clearly needed and under close medical supervision. May reduce the effectiveness of latex contraceptives. Prolonged use may lead to overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms.

Interaction

  • May inactivate live vaginal vaccine preparations
  • Potential additive toxicity with other aminoglycoside antibiotics if absorbed
  • Possible increased nephrotoxicity if used concurrently with systemic diuretics
