Micropost Eye Drop (Travoprost) is an ophthalmic solution used to reduce intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. By increasing the outflow of aqueous humor, it helps lower eye pressure, thereby preventing optic nerve damage and potential vision loss.

Uses

Micropost Eye Drop is primarily used to treat high intraocular pressure in individuals with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by a healthcare provider.

Benefits

  • Reduces intraocular pressure
  • Prevents optic nerve damage
  • Helps prevent vision loss
  • Treats open-angle glaucoma
  • Manages ocular hypertension

How It Works

Travoprost, the active ingredient in Micropost Eye Drop, is a prostaglandin analog. It works by increasing the drainage of fluid (aqueous humor) from the eye, which helps to lower intraocular pressure. This mechanism is crucial for preventing damage to the optic nerve and maintaining healthy vision.

Dosage

The recommended dosage for Micropost Eye Drop is one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and not to use the drops more frequently than directed, as this can reduce their effectiveness.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Micropost Eye Drop include:
  • Eye redness
  • Ocular discomfort
  • Reduced visual acuity
  • Conjunctival hyperemia
  • Ocular pain and irritation
If any of these side effects persist or worsen, it is important to consult a healthcare professional.

Warning

Before using Micropost Eye Drop, inform your healthcare provider if you have any pre-existing eye conditions, such as macular edema, iritis, or uveitis. Remove contact lenses before applying the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. Regular eye check-ups are recommended to monitor for any changes in eye color or other side effects.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Consult your healthcare provider before using Micropost Eye Drop if you are pregnant or breastfeeding to ensure it is safe for you and your baby.

Interaction

  • Inform your healthcare provider about any other medications or supplements you are taking to avoid potential interactions.
  • Avoid using other eye medications simultaneously unless directed by your healthcare provider.

Important Information

Store Micropost Eye Drop in a cool place, and do not freeze. Always wash your hands before applying the drops and avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface to prevent contamination. Follow the prescribed dosage and schedule to achieve the best results.

Adults (including elderly) 1 drop in the affected eye(s) once daily, in the evening

How to Use Micropost Eye Drop (Travoprost)

  1. Wash hands before applying the eye drop.
  2. Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
  3. Hold the dropper above your eye, and place one drop into the pocket. Try not to touch your eye with the dropper tip to avoid contamination.
  4. Close your eyes and press gently on the inner corner of your eye (near the nose) for about 1 minute to prevent the liquid from draining into your tear duct.
  5. Wipe away any excess liquid from around your eye with a clean tissue.
  6. If you are using other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes before applying them.
  7. Store the bottle with the cap tightly closed, away from light, at room temperature.

Important Information

  • Do not use more than once daily, as applying Travoprost more frequently may reduce its effectiveness.
  • Missed dose: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. However, skip it if it's almost time for your next dose. Do not double the dose.
  • Side Effects: Common side effects include eye redness, discomfort, or changes in eye color (especially in those with lighter-colored eyes). If you experience severe discomfort, consult your healthcare provider.
  • Consultation: Inform your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other medications.
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, and keep out of reach of children
