Tavanic 500mg Tablet (Levofloxacin) x5

Tavanic 500mg is an antibiotic medication that belongs to the group of fluoroquinolones. It contains 500mg of levofloxacin as levofloxacin hemihydrate.

Uses

Tavanic 500mg is used to treat various types of bacterial infections. These include infections of the sinuses, lungs (in people with long-term breathing problems or pneumonia), urinary tract (including kidneys and bladder), prostate gland (where there is a long-lasting infection), and skin and underneath the skin, including muscles. In some special situations, Tavanic tablets may be used to lessen the chances of getting a pulmonary disease named anthrax or worsening of the disease after exposure to the bacteria causing anthrax.

Mechanism of Action

Tavanic Dosage

The dosage of Tavanic 500mg depends on the type and severity of the infection. For urinary tract infections without complications, the dose ranges from 250mg to 500mg per day for 3 consecutive days. In the case of complicated urinary tract infections, the dose remains the same but lasts 7 to 10 days. For pneumonia, you should take 500mg twice a day for about 7 to 14 days continuously²⁸.

Warnings

Levofloxacin can cause serious side effects, including tendon problems, nerve damage, serious mood or behavior changes, or low blood sugar. Stop using levofloxacin and call your doctor at once if you have symptoms such as headache, hunger, irritability, numbness, tingling, burning pain, confusion, agitation, paranoia, problems with memory or concentration, thoughts of suicide, or sudden pain or movement problems in any of your joints.

Important Information

Before taking this drug, you should not use levofloxacin if you are allergic to it or other fluoroquinolones (such as moxifloxacin, ciprofloxacin, or ofloxacin). Levofloxacin may cause swelling or tearing of a tendon, especially in the Achilles’ tendon of the heel. This can happen during treatment or up to several months after you stop taking levofloxacin⁵. Tavanic 500mg should be avoided during pregnancy due to the risk of severe side effects on the joints of the developing fetus⁴. Consult your doctor before using Tavanic 500mg if you are breastfeeding⁴
