Buy NowIntrasite Gel Wound Dressing is an aqueous transparent hydrogel containing a modified carboxymethylcellulose polymer that creates moist wound environments, loosens exudate/debris, and conforms closely to wound beds for optimal healing.
Uses
Intrasite 15g Gel dressing treats partial and full-thickness wounds including pressure ulcers, diabetic/leg ulcers, abrasions, and post-surgical wounds by facilitating moist wound management.
Benefits
Key benefits include retaining moisture balance, absorbing excess exudate, autolytic debridement, and protecting wounds from external contamination due to its conforming gel texture.
Mechanism of Action
The modified CMC gel retains moisture, hydrates wound tissue, loosens necrotic debris, and exudates for absorption while allowing autolysis to occur.
Dosage
Apply a 1/16 to 1/8 inch thick layer across the wound bed once daily or as directed based on wound condition.
Warnings
Discontinue use if irritation, sensitivity, or infection occurs. Not meant for third-degree burns or patients allergic to dressing components.
Important Information
Check expiration dates before use. Ensure the wound is free of debris before applying. Use secondary dressings if needed to hold Intrasite Gel in place.
- Clean the wound and surrounding area thoroughly with saline or an appropriate wound cleanser.
- Apply the dressing directly to the wound, making sure that the entire wound is covered.
- Secure the dressing in place with a secondary dressing, such as a bandage or adhesive tape.
- Change the dressing at regular intervals, depending on the amount of exudate produced by the wound and the level of saturation of the dressing. It is usually recommended to change the dressing at least once every 24-48 hours, or more frequently if necessary.
- Discard used dressings and secondary dressings appropriately.
