Zinnat 500mg is a potent cephalosporin antibiotic containing cefuroxime axetil for the treatment of various common bacterial infections in adults and pediatric patients.
Uses
Zinnat 500mg is indicated for the treatment of acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, mild community-acquired pneumonia, acute uncomplicated urethritis and cervicitis, acute uncomplicated cystitis, uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections and other infections caused by susceptible organisms.

Mechanism of Action
 Zinnat 500mg contains cefuroxime axetil, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby causing cell lysis and death. Its broad spectrum of activity allows it to be effective against many gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens.
Dosage
 The recommended dosage is 250 to 500 mg twice daily by mouth for 5 to 10 days, depending on the indication. Dose adjustments may be required for renal impairment.
Warning
 Hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis, skin rashes, and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis have occurred. Should be given with caution in penicillin-hypersensitive patients. Not suitable for patients with severe renal impairment.
Important Information
 Zinnat 500mg may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives so alternative birth control methods should be used. Prothrombin times should be monitored in patients receiving anticoagulants together with Zinnat 500mg. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding should occur only if clearly needed and under medical supervision.
