Zinnia F Tablet is an advanced combined oral contraceptive pill that offers comprehensive protection and additional benefits. This unique formulation combines three active ingredients: levonorgestrel, ethinylestradiol, and ferrous fumarate, working together to prevent pregnancy effectively and support overall reproductive health.

Uses

Zinnia F Tablet is primarily prescribed for:

  • Highly effective contraception and prevention of unplanned pregnancy when taken as directed.
  • Regulation of menstrual cycles, helping to manage irregular bleeding, painful periods, and other cycle-related issues.
  • Treatment and management of certain gynecological conditions, such as endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), as advised by a healthcare professional.

Benefits

  • Reliable contraceptive protection with a low risk of pregnancy when used correctly.
  • Regulates menstrual cycles, reducing heavy bleeding, cramps, and other menstrual-related discomforts.
  • Helps maintain healthy iron levels and prevents iron deficiency anemia, thanks to the ferrous fumarate component.
  • May provide additional benefits, such as improved skin condition and reduced risk of certain cancers, depending on individual circumstances.

Mechanism of Action

  • Levonorgestrel and ethinylestradiol are synthetic hormones that mimic the natural hormones produced by the body.
  • These hormones work together to prevent ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary), thereby preventing fertilization and pregnancy.
  • Additionally, they thicken the cervical mucus, creating a barrier that makes it difficult for sperm to reach the egg.
  • Ferrous fumarate is an iron supplement that supports red blood cell production and helps maintain healthy iron levels, preventing anemia.

Dosage

The recommended dosage for Zinnia F Tablet is one tablet taken orally, at the same time each day, as prescribed by your healthcare provider. It is crucial to follow the specific dosing instructions provided with the medication and consult your healthcare provider if you have any questions or concerns.

Side Effects

Like any medication, Zinnia F Tablet may cause side effects in some individuals. Common side effects may include nausea, breast tenderness, headaches, irregular bleeding (especially during the first few months of use), and mood changes. If you experience severe or persistent side effects, it is essential to consult your healthcare provider promptly.

Warning

Zinnia F Tablet should not be taken by individuals with certain medical conditions, such as blood clotting disorders, liver disease, breast cancer, or a history of stroke or heart attack. Smoking while taking this medication increases the risk of serious cardiovascular side effects. It is crucial to inform your healthcare provider about any other medications or supplements you are taking to avoid potential interactions and ensure the safe use of this contraceptive pill.

Important Information

  • Zinnia F Tablet provides contraceptive protection but does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs); use additional barrier methods, such as condoms, for protection against STIs.
  • Missed doses may increase the risk of unintended pregnancy; follow the instructions provided for missed doses carefully.
  • Consult your healthcare provider before starting or stopping this medication, as well as during regular check-ups while taking it, to ensure its continued safety and effectiveness for your individual needs.

Dosage Guidelines for Zinnia F Tablet

  • Active Tablets (Levonorgestrel 150 mcg and Ethinylestradiol 30 mcg):
    • Take one active tablet daily for 21 consecutive days, preferably at the same time each day.
  • Placebo Tablets (Ferrous Fumarate 75 mg):
    • After finishing the 21 active tablets, take one placebo tablet daily for 7 consecutive days.
During these 7 days, you should have your withdrawal bleeding (a period-like bleed). After completing the 7 days of placebo tablets, start a new pack the following day, regardless of whether your bleeding has stopped or not.

Administration

  • Consistency: Take the tablet at the same time every day to maintain consistent hormone levels and maximize contraceptive effectiveness.
  • With or Without Food: The tablets can be taken with or without food. If you experience nausea, taking it with food may help.
  • Missed Dose: If you miss a dose, follow the instructions provided in the package insert for missed doses, or consult your healthcare provider.

Important Considerations

  1. Consult Healthcare Provider:
    • Always consult your healthcare provider before starting any new medication, especially oral contraceptives.
  2. Side Effects:
    • Be aware of potential side effects such as nausea, headache, breast tenderness, and mood changes. Severe side effects should be reported to a healthcare provider immediately.
  3. Other Medications:
    • Inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, as some can interact with oral contraceptives and reduce their effectiveness.
  4. Regular Check-ups:
    • Regular follow-up appointments with your healthcare provider are recommended to monitor your response to the medication and manage any potential side effects.
