How It Works
Welcome Septrin works through a dual mechanism of action. Sulfamethoxazole blocks bacterial production of dihydrofolic acid, while trimethoprim inhibits the conversion of dihydrofolic acid to tetrahydrofolic acid. This sequential blocking creates a synergistic effect that interferes with bacterial DNA synthesis.
