How It Works
Ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing DNA replication and bacterial reproduction. Tinidazole, a nitroimidazole antiprotozoal, damages DNA structure in susceptible anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. This combination provides comprehensive coverage against common pathogens.

Duration of Action
Ciprotab TN begins acting within 1-2 hours after ingestion. Ciprofloxacin reaches peak concentrations in 1-2 hours, while Tinidazole peaks within 2-3 hours. Therapeutic effects typically appear within 24-48 hours. The antimicrobial effect persists for approximately 12 hours, supporting twice-daily dosing.
Side Effects
Common side effects include nausea, metallic taste, dizziness, headache, and mild gastrointestinal disturbances. Less common effects include photosensitivity, tendon inflammation, and temporary peripheral neuropathy. Most side effects resolve after completing treatment.
Warning
Do not consume alcohol during treatment and for 3 days after completing therapy, as it may cause severe reactions with Tinidazole. Ciprofloxacin can rarely cause tendon damage, especially in older patients. Discontinue and seek medical attention for tendon pain, joint swelling, or severe skin reactions.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Ciprotab TN is contraindicated during pregnancy due to potential risks to fetal development. It should not be used during breastfeeding as both components pass into breast milk and may affect the infant. Consult your doctor about alternative treatments if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
