Ebecef Injection 1g contains ceftriaxone, a potent third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. This injectable medication offers broad-spectrum activity against numerous gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Designed for intravenous or intramuscular administration, Ebecef provides rapid and effective treatment for various serious bacterial infections.

Uses

Ebecef Injection 1g is primarily used to treat:

  • Lower respiratory tract infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Bone and joint infections
  • Intra-abdominal infections
  • Meningitis
  • Septicemia
  • Surgical prophylaxis

Benefits

  • Broad-spectrum antibacterial activity
  • Once-daily dosing in most cases
  • Effective against many penicillin-resistant strains
  • High tissue penetration, including cerebrospinal fluid
  • Long half-life for sustained action
  • Suitable for both adults and children
  • Can be used for both community-acquired and hospital-acquired infections

How It Works

Ceftriaxone interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). This action leads to the inhibition of cell wall formation, causing bacterial cell lysis and death. Its unique structure allows for extended plasma half-life and broad-spectrum activity.

Dosage

The typical adult dose is 1-2g once daily, or 500mg-1g twice daily, depending on the severity of the infection. For severe infections, doses up to 4g daily may be used. Pediatric dosing is based on body weight. Always follow your doctor’s specific dosing instructions.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and pain at the injection site. Rarely, more serious side effects such as allergic reactions, blood disorders, or gallbladder problems may occur. Consult your healthcare provider if you experience any unusual symptoms.

Warning

Ebecef Injection 1g should only be used under medical supervision. Immediate medical attention is required if signs of an allergic reaction occur. Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Ebecef should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. It is excreted in human milk in low concentrations. Consult your healthcare provider for guidance if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Interaction

  • May increase the anticoagulant effect of warfarin
  • Can interfere with some urine glucose tests
  • May increase the risk of kidney problems when used with loop diuretics
  • Potential interaction with calcium-containing solutions
  • Can affect results of Coombs’ test

Important Information

Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed, even if symptoms improve. Inform your doctor of any allergies, especially to penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics. Regular monitoring of liver and kidney function may be necessary during prolonged treatment. Store at room temperature, protected from light. Once reconstituted, use within the time specified by your healthcare provider or pharmacist. Do not mix with calcium-containing solutions in the same IV administration set.
