How It Works
Cefuroxime, the active ingredient in Oxispa Suspension Dry Syrup, belongs to the cephalosporin class of antibiotics. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, which is essential for bacterial survival and growth. Cefuroxime binds to and inactivates specific enzymes called penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which are involved in cell wall formation. This disruption in cell wall synthesis ultimately leads to bacterial cell destruction and infection eradication.
Duration of Action
Oxispa Suspension maintains therapeutic blood levels for approximately 12 hours after administration, with peak plasma concentrations reached within 2-3 hours. The antibiotic remains active in the body with an elimination half-life of 1-2 hours in patients with normal renal function.
