Amatem Softgel combines Artemether (80mg) and Lumefantrine (480mg) in a convenient softgel form. This artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) offers potent and rapid action against malaria, particularly Plasmodium falciparum infections. The softgel formulation enhances absorption and patient compliance.
Uses
Amatem Softgel is primarily indicated for:
- Treatment of acute, uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum
- Management of mixed malarial infections including P. falciparum
Benefits
- Rapid and effective clearance of malaria parasites
- Softgel formulation for improved absorption and ease of administration
- Effective against drug-resistant strains of P. falciparum
- Reduces risk of recrudescence and treatment failure
- Combination therapy helps prevent development of resistance
- Suitable for both adults and children (based on weight)
How It Works
Artemether rapidly reduces parasite load by interfering with protein synthesis. Lumefantrine eliminates remaining parasites by disrupting their mitochondrial function. This dual-action approach ensures comprehensive parasite clearance and prevents recurrence.
