P-Alaxin TS Tablet is an advanced antimalarial medication that combines two potent active ingredients: dihydroartemisinin and piperaquine. This dual-action formulation provides effective treatment for acute uncomplicated malaria, particularly in regions with drug-resistant Plasmodium strains.
Uses
P-Alaxin TS is primarily used for treating acute, uncomplicated malaria caused by P. falciparum. It’s also effective in managing malaria in areas with multi-drug resistant strains and treating mixed malarial infections.
Benefits
- Highly effective against drug-resistant malaria strains
- Rapid parasite clearance
- Prolonged protective effect against reinfection
- Convenient once-daily dosing regimen
- Well-tolerated with a favorable safety profile
- Suitable for both adults and children
How It Works
Dihydroartemisinin rapidly reduces parasite load by interfering with the parasite’s ability to detoxify heme. Piperaquine, with its longer half-life, eliminates residual parasites and provides extended protection against reinfection.
Duration of Action
The rapid-acting dihydroartemisinin component begins working within hours of administration. The long-acting piperaquine component provides protection against reinfection for up to 4-5 weeks after treatment.
