How It Works

Tavanic Infusion 500mg acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes, crucial for bacterial DNA replication. This dual-targeting mechanism ensures rapid bactericidal activity against susceptible organisms.

Duration of Action

Effects begin within 1-2 hours of administration. Tavanic Infusion 500mg maintains therapeutic levels for 24 hours, enabling once-daily dosing. Treatment duration typically ranges 7-14 days based on infection severity.

Dosage

Hospital administration only with 250-500mg once daily over 60-minute IV infusion time. Duration based on infection type. Dose adjustment required for renal impairment.

Side Effects

Common effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache and dizziness, sleep disturbances, skin reactions, and fungal infections.

Warning

Discontinue immediately if experiencing tendon pain/inflammation, severe allergic reactions, heart rhythm changes, nervous system symptoms, or muscle weakness.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to potential risks. Alternative antibiotics should be considered for these populations.

Interactions

  • May interact with antacids and mineral supplements
  • Avoid concurrent use with Class IA or III antiarrhythmics
  • Monitor when used with NSAIDs
  • Potential interaction with oral hypoglycemic agents
  • Caution with corticosteroids due to tendon risk
  • Check compatibility with other IV medications
  • Monitor with anticoagulant therapy
  • Avoid with drugs that prolong QT interval
  • Consider spacing with dairy products
  • Verify compatibility with concurrent antibiotics

Important Information

For hospital use only under medical supervision. Monitor renal function during treatment. Maintain adequate hydration. Avoid excessive sun exposure during therapy. Report any unusual symptoms promptly. Regular monitoring of infection response required. Complete full course of Tavanic Infusion 500mg as prescribed.
